Bohemiandrive on Bluesky

Bluesky opened up, so I started an account: @bohemiandrive.bsky.social

I was able catch up Velvet Gewgaw in a couple of posts. So it’s no longer confined to Meta-owned platforms.

As should be apparent from my tiny follower counts on any platform, I’m not really into any social media. I got off Twitter in (I think) Musk’s second week in charge, but really that’s just because Twitter was already as much as I could take. I find all social media a chore, as does everyone, but more than that, I find it a parasitic chore. When receiving engagement is contingent on giving engagement how can any engagement be in earnest? I’m old. I’m a web 1.0 guy. I just put stuff out there and hope someone likes it. And I mean likes it, not “likes” it.

Generally, my social media use policy is — I post what I’m working on with relevant tags; if someone follows me, I check to see if it’s an artist account (by which I mean, are they primarily posting art?); if it is then I follow them back*; I rarely look at my feeds, and I look people up when I’m curious about what they’ve been doing; I like maybe five posts a year. So, according to Kant’s categorical imperative, I should consider it a good thing that my socials get so little engagement.

This is all to say: you can follow Velvet Gewgaw on Bluesky now if you want.

*if you’re an artist and you follow me on something and I’m not following back, let me know.
